My trip to Macedonia-The former republic of Jugoslavia!

Call to prayer in Skopje

As you know from reading “about me” I love to travel! Summer 2010 me and my husband decided to travel around in Macedonia and, as it was close, to Albania for 2 weeks… Macedonia and Albania, you might ask? I have lived in Berlin, the former Eastberlin, Fredrishhain and Prenzlauerberg, and since then I like to explore the former east…

Macedonia I have been in before, in 2002, but since it was too long a time ago and for too short a time, I therefore wanted to visit again and my husband approved… As I like to travel and see the landscape to my destination we took a bus, owned by a  private Swedish/Macedonian company, from Malmö… So by bus and boat we traveled through europe to Macedonia…

You can see and be at our journey, Macedonia (Skopje & Ohrid), here and under the Albania page. For more travel pictures and poems regarding this trip also visit  e-books- Ho(s)tels with my Valentine, Enjoy! /Love Petra

At the boat: Trelleborg-Sassnitz

And then we continued and past Belgrade in the morning glory…

…The town were the musician Goran Bregovic is born and works… listen and get happy!

And then at last we where at the border to Macedonia!

At our Hostel in Skopje

There are different signs that shows that we are in Skopje, here are 4 of them!

The oldest stonebridge in Europe

Around the stonebridge

The old stonebridge devides the old town and the new… Let´s go into the old one first… A town with nice restaurants, curling streets, nice little shops, mosques and a lively bazar…

Now, lets see what we have in the new city… A shoppingstreet with churches and statues…

Leaving Skopje for Albania…Visit the Albaniapage…

After Albania we went back to Macedonia,  but this time to Ohrid…It was a loooong journey…trust me!

As we were tiered we enjoyed our room with a view…

After our short stay in Ohrid we traveled back home by taxi and a minibus, don´t ask how and why…?

The end of my travel …for this time being… Visit my other travels at  “My trip-pages”…Enjoy!/Love Petra
